The structure of campus compliance oversight includes two committees: the Institutional Compliance Committee, which provides operational guidance, and the Executive Compliance Committee, which offers strategic direction.
Mission of the Institutional Compliance Committee
The mission of the Institutional Compliance Committee (ICC) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) is to promote a culture of integrity and accountability by providing leadership in advancing campus-wide compliance efforts.
The ICC supports this mission by:
- Reviewing significant audit findings and corresponding mitigation plans;
- Staying informed about new and emerging regulatory requirements;
- Aligning with the UT System risk management framework to address key institutional risks;
- Identifying compliance-related risks and opportunities for continuous improvement;
- Advising the Executive Compliance Committee on campus compliance priorities and risk mitigation strategies, both annually and as needed.
The ICC is committed to promoting excellence in compliance activities and ensuring adherence to applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. It also serves as a key communication channel between campus compliance officers and senior leadership.
